My qualifications and experience
I am a qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, with additional experience of working in specialist schools. I have a passion for supporting children, young people and families with neurodiversity to access therapy.
In addition to offering private practice for 0 - 25 year olds and their parents, I currently work as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist for the Worcester Therapy Group and for Wider Ambition specialist schools.
Prior to training as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, I worked therapeutically at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital with children and families in palliative care for over 6 years, I have also worked as a specialist foster carer and for a learning disability charity. I have a variety of teaching experience through my trainings in Primary Education, CELTA and music, and have lectured to post graduate and masters students at university level.
Complementary to my therapeutic work, I am an artist and a professionally published children’s author and illustrator.
I am a fully registered member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists.
Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy training
As a qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, I am registered to work with children and young people aged 0-25 years and their parents.
The pre-clinical phase of the training takes a minimum of 2 years to attain a post-graduate diploma in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies. The clinical phase, takes a further minimum of 4 years, working in an NHS CAMHS setting, studying to a post graduate level which is recognised by the Department of Health as having Clinical Doctoral equivalence.
Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists undergo intensive personal psychoanalysis. It is a professional requirement to have regular supervision of our clinical work from an ACP registered, Senior or Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and to maintain ongoing CPD (continual professional development).
Qualification as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist leads to membership of the Association of Child Psychotherapists, the accrediting professional body for Child Psychotherapists, this is regulated by the Professional Standards Authority.
In choosing an experienced Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, you are ensuring that your child receives a specialist level of professional care and expertise.
